Milford opened the scoring after 5 minutes before Conor Roche equalised almost immediately. Then after hard work from Colin Kelly and Kieran Doolan, John Martin O’ Hanlon put Clyda into the lead after 16 minutes of play. Milford drew level before goaling in the 20th minute to lead by a goal. Then Clyda dug deep and clawed their way back into the match with 3 points from Seamus Ronayne, Conor Roche and Sean O ‘Shea to level again after 27 minutes. Milford scored a goal and a point and it looked like we might be in trouble facing half time before Gavin Dennehy batted a rebound to the net after a great save by the Milford goalie from Conor Roche to leave Clyda trailing by a solitary point at half time.  Clyda came out fighting with a blistering start to the second half. Gavin Dennehy equalised and Seamus Ronayne put us 1 point up before Gavin blasted a volley to the net (better even than his friend Ronaldo would have!). John Martin O’ Hanlon followed up with another goal and suddenly we were 7 points up after only 5 minutes of the second half had elapsed.  Colin Kelly and Conor Roche added 2 more points before Kieran Doolan goaled again for Clyda after 15 minutes. There was a procession of Clyda scores for the remainder of the game including a goal and 3 points for Conor Roche with Milford getting a consolation point with 5 minutes to go. Final score: Clyda Rovers: 5-15, Milford: 2-4. Credit to all the team who put in a tremendous second half display of scoring but a lot of hard work was also done in the first half and   our back line are  also deserving of great credit. Under 14 Hurlers  WinThe Clyda Rovers under 14 hurlers played their first league game on Monday last against Kildorrery. Conor Roche scored first for Clyda after 2 minutes but then Kilworth scored a goal and a point before Conor scored another point after 16 minutes of play. Clyda completely dominated the remainder of the half but only managed to score 2 points through Gavin Dennehy and Conor Roche while Kildorrery added 1 point to leave Clyda trailing by a point at half time, having racked up a huge tally of wides. Seamus Ronayne brought Clyda level after 12 minutes of the second half and it looked like we were finally going to convert our clear dominance into scores. However the opposite happened and despite being in control of the play Cyda couldn’t buy a score at this stage of the match. Then we conceded a goal and 3 points and looked completely out of sorts as we found ourselves down 6 points with only 8 minutes remaining. However Seamus Ronayne lit the spark with a blistering run after winning a puck out and he goaled to start the comeback. Conor Roche added another fine  point and we were back in the match being down only 2 points with 3 minutes to go. Then Ronan Flanagan popped up to score an opportunist goal after good work from Colin Kelly on the left  and incredibly we were ahead. Then Seamus Ronayne got his second goal in injury time before Gavin Dennehy killed off any chance of a Kildorrery revival with another goal and we finished up winning by 7 points.  Final score: Clyda Rovers: 4-6, Kildorrery 2-5. Credit to all the team who showed great heart to grab victory from the jaws of defeat! Scorers for Clyda Rovers:  S. Ronayne 2-1, C. Roche 0-4, G. Dennehy 1-1, R. Best of LuckBest wishes to Cork Footballers Ray Carey and Paudie Kissane who are part of the Cork Senior Football Team who Play Mayo in the Div 1 Football League Final in Croke Park on Sunday. We hope all their Hard Work in the Winter Pays off. Clyda Rovers GAA UpdateAnother Busy weekend of action last week, On Saturday night the Minor Hurlers played Kildorrery in theMinor Hurling League in Kildorrery. Clyda were down 2-1 to 0-1 after 5 minutes and the signs did not look Good. What transpired was a fantastic first half performance where 2 midfielders Conor Flanagan and Chris BuckleyDrove clyda to a 2 point lead at half time. The Second half was as close with both sides giving there all. Some fantastic scores by the Clyda players Daniel Mulcahy, Sean Ronayne, Chris Buckley and Conor Flanagan Drove clyda to a 2 point win at full time, Clyda 1-14 Kildorrery 1-12. The Other Game which toke place at the weekend was Clyda taking on Kilshanning in the Division 2 Hurling League, Short 8 Players who started the North Cork Hurling Final Last year, an easy game against tour Neighbours was not Expected. But over the hour clyda deserved there 4 point victory 1-13 to 0-12. Led especially by Niall O MullaneAt midfield. Earlier in the Week Shan Bally More started better and held a led throughout the Match and beat Clyda 1-15 to 1-12.So that’s 3 from 4 in the League so far. We now break for Football over the Next Few Weeks with First into action the Prem Minor Footballers. Clyda Rovers GAALotto 16th April 2010No’s 2, 10, 18, 29. Spot Prizes: €50 Carmel Daly (Greenhill), €30 Maureen Lane (Ballinvoskig), €20 Sandra Conroy (Clogheen), €20 Eily Walsh (Ballyphillibeen), €20 Patricia Walsh (Clashmorgan).Next week's jackpot is €12,500 and the draw takes place on Friday April 23rd in O’Mahony’s Bar Bottlehill. Clyda Rovers Juv UpdateThe Clyda Rovers under 14 footballers played their third league game on Monday last in Kilworth. Gavin Dennehy scored first for Clyda after 3 minutes but then Kilworth dominated  the scoring to lead by a goal and a point after 20 minutes. Incredibly Clyda hit the bar 3 times with nothing to show for these efforts before James Buckley kicked a point and Seamus Ronayne got a good goal to draw level but Kilworth went into a one point lead just before half time. Kilworth came out flying at the start of the second half and scored a goal and 2 points in the first five minutes and it looked ominous at this stage for Clyda. Fair play, the Clyda  boys kept their concentration  and fought their way back into the game  through a point by Conor Roche, then a goal by Tom Murphy  and   points from Christopher Fitspatrick and Conor Roche  to draw level with less than 10 minutes to go.  At this stage it felt  like we were going to pull away but we couldn’t get ahead and it looked like it was all over when Kilworth scored a goal with time almost up. However a brilliant move from a great kick out by Gearoid O’ Shea who found  Seamus Ronayne and he drove up the right wing finding Tom Muphy, and then Conor Roche who set up  Seamus in  space and he blasted it to the net to draw level on the stroke of full time. Our tales were up and there was only going to be one winner as Clyda fought for every ball and Seamus Ronayne kicked the lead point in injury time and Gavin Dennehy finished off the scoring with a fine point. Final score Clyda Rovers 3-7, Kilworth 3-5.Great credit to all the team who showed both great heart  and skill to win the day!  Scorers for Clyda Rovers:  S. Ronayne 2-1, T. Murphy 1-0, C. A great goal by Ronan Flanagan after 9 minutes left Clyda ahead by 3 goals to 1. However 2 goals conceded after 27 minutes left us only 2 points ahead but we finished the half with a flourish and rattled off 4 points in quick succession through Gavin Dennehy, Seamus Ronayne (2) and Tom Murphy to leave the half time score 3-6 to 3-0 for Clyda.  Clyda faded completely at the start of the second half and conceded 3 goals and 2 points without reply and looked to be in serious trouble. Great credit to them however as they battled back with a goal from Ronan Flanagan and Seamus Ronayne kicked 3 great points to draw level with 2 minutes left. A goal in the last minute from Doneraile would have buried a lesser team but Clyda won a free and Gearoid O’ Shea popped up on the edge of the square to fist a great goal in injury time to leave honours even. Dara Walsh showed great  fighting spirit as after going off injured he rejoined the fray to help the cause for the last 10 minutes.Scorers for Clyda Rovers:  R. Flanagan : 2-1, C. Roche:1-1, S. Clyda U21 Footballers win Title after Lapse of 6 Years.
The Club won its first title of the year when they defeated a committed Ballyclough Team 2-15 to 1-01 In Buttevant last Saturday. See Sports Pages for Match Report. It was a particularly satisfying day for Everyone on the team and panel as they never won the B competition all the way through their age groups. For a number of players it was their first ever north cork and we congratulate them on their victory. This year for the first time there is a county in the B Football, so the year is not yet finished for the Team.We also say well done to  Cathal Cronin coach who coached the clyda U21 the last time too when they won the championship in 2004. Also to Selectors John Roche, Donal O Mullane, Noel Walsh and Brian Flanagan. Here’s hoping this is the Start of a Great year for the Club. Club Results What was a busy weekend proved a very fruitful one for the club not only did the U21 Footballers win the North Cork Our Junior Hurlers defeated Charleville in the Junior League 1-12 0-10 and Our Minor Footballers defeated Mayfield 2-15 to 2-07 in the premier Minor League all on Sunday despite 9 of the Team playing in the U21 Final Well done to all.

Clyda Rovers GAA Juvenile Club Update The Clyda Rovers under 12 footballers travelled to Buttevant where they met a very strong Buttevant side. After a sluggish start Clyda battled back into the game and were only 4 points behind at half time having played some excellent football at times despite conceding some unfortunate goals. In the second half, Buttevant took control of the game after Clyda missed a couple of scoring opportunities. The Clyda team battled to the finish but Buttevant’s ability to create goal opportunities saw them run out comfortable winners. Team: S Kelly, M O’Connor, C Pratt, W Cronin, M O’Sullivan, G O’Hanlon, D Fitzpatrick, D Buckley, G Dennehy, A O’Sullivan, S O’Shea  , D Cronin-Jenks, D Flanagan, C Kelly, B O’Connor.Subs used: S O’Callaghan, C Dorgan, E Doherty, L Crowley On the same day there was better fortune for the U16 team as they overcame St.Colman’s in Ballyclough to qualify for the U16 league semi-final. As in the U12 game, Clyda were slow to settle and St Colmans had scored 1-2 before the Clyda midfield took the game by the scruff of the neck providing plentiful possession to the forwards and also scoring freely. Clyda applied a stranglehold on the game for the remainder of the half and led by 1-10 to 1-2 at half time. In the second half the game lost its shape as Clyda fell into defensive mode and allowed St Colman’s much more possessionTeam: G O’Shea, T Buckley, S Madden, R Flanagan, D Walsh, D O’ Callaghan, S O’ Connor, C Crowley, R Walsh, S Ronayne, S O’Hanlon, C Cronin, T.
